Niger’s President Receives Prime Minister Saifi Gharib in Niamey

Prime Minister Saifi Gharib was received on Tuesday by the President of Niger, General Abdourahamane Tiani, to whom he conveyed the fraternal greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He emphasized the President’s keenness to work together to consolidate fraternal ties and relations of solidarity and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

During the meeting, the results of the second session of the Algerian-Nigerien Grand Joint Commission for Cooperation were reviewed. The commission’s work took place over the past three days and was co-chaired by the Prime Minister alongside his Nigerien counterpart, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine.

President Abdourahamane Tiani expressed his deep appreciation for President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his sincere thanks for his permanent commitment to Niger and its people. He recalled his visit to Algeria last February and the significant results achieved, which provided a strong impetus to bilateral relations and revitalized cooperation in various fields.

President Tiani added that relations between Algeria and Niger should serve as a model in the region. He noted that the existing ties and the high-level consensus between the two countries are factors that will contribute to moving bilateral relations and cooperation to a new stage based on solidarity, partnership, and joint coordination on various issues of common interest and regional challenges. He also stressed the need to implement the important outcomes of the Grand Joint Commission, expressing his determination to personally oversee their realization alongside President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

For his part, the Prime Minister praised the depth of the historical ties between the two countries and peoples, highlighting the leaderships’ commitment to moving forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation. This involves exploiting all cooperation and partnership opportunities offered by the economies of both countries, according to a solidarity-based approach focused on complementarity and integration.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the holding of this session comes within the framework of implementing the high directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Abdourahamane Tiani, issued during the latter’s visit to Algeria last February. He emphasized the need to follow up on the implementation of all existing cooperation activities, including the outcomes of the second session of the Grand Joint Commission, particularly in the fields of hydrocarbons, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, higher education, and vocational training. He further stressed exploring all ways to enhance bilateral cooperation to meet the directives of the two leaders and the aspirations of their peoples for further solidarity, integration, and growth.
