Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry Issues Urgent Memorandum

The Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry has called on all pharmaceutical companies active in manufacturing, importing, and distribution to take note of potential disruptions to international supply chains due to current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

In an urgent memorandum, the ministry warned that these tensions “could affect the availability of pharmaceutical products in the national market during the coming weeks and months.”

According to the memorandum, all relevant pharmaceutical institutions are required to monitor their supply developments with the utmost rigor and vigilance. They must notify the ministry’s competent departments without delay of any difficulties that could impact the implementation of their current import or delivery programs, whether concerning finished products or essential production inputs, via the email address: approvisionnements@miph.gov.dz.

This obligation falls within the framework of implementing current legislative and regulatory provisions, particularly those stipulated in Article 162 of Law No. 25-17 dated December 14, 2025, concerning the 2026 Finance Law, which amends the provisions of Article 61 of Law No. 22-24 dated December 25, 2022, concerning the 2023 Finance Law.

These legislative provisions require pharmaceutical companies to declare their stocks of pharmaceutical products via the ministry’s digital platform. They must also ensure the availability of materials according to approved manufacturing or import programs and report any difficulties that may lead to non-compliance with these programs, under penalty of the sanctions provided for in the aforementioned article.
