Algeria Launches Major Digital Overhaul of Hydrocarbons Sector to Secure Supply and Boost Public Services

Algeria’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons held a high-level coordination meeting Sunday with the High Commission for Digitalization, focused on developing an integrated information system to monitor national market supply and elevate public service quality.

The meeting, chaired by Minister of State for Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab alongside High Commissioner Meriem Ben Mouled, was convened following directives issued during the Joint Ministerial Council of April 9, 2026.

Sonatrach CEO Noureddine Daoud, Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority President Amine Remini, and senior officials from Naftal and the Algerian Desalination Company attended, alongside security agency representatives and sector executives.

Discussions centered on implementing the new system to guarantee fuel and petroleum product supply, ensure continued delivery of desalinated water, and deploy advanced digital tools enabling proactive decision-making to prevent potential disruptions.

Progress on key digitalization projects was reviewed, including the data governance framework, the sovereign secured network “ARIAS,” and interoperability systems linking government sectors within a unified digital platform.

Minister Arkab told dzwatch the project is a strategic pillar for reinforcing energy supply security, urging accelerated coordination among all stakeholders. The High Commissioner reaffirmed commitment to delivering innovative digital solutions that strengthen national digital sovereignty.
