President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has reaffirmed Algeria’s full readiness to continue working alongside the Vatican to promote mutual understanding and spread the values of dialogue.
Speaking at the Cultural Center of the Grand Mosque of Algiers during the official visit of Pope Leo XIV, President Tebboune told dzwatch that Algeria “provides a safe haven for the oppressed, the persecuted, and the marginalized, always standing alongside just causes.”
He emphasized that Algeria has historically been “a space of harmony, interaction, and cohesion,” defending human dignity and championing just causes across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
The President noted that these shared universal values form the common ground between Algeria and the Vatican, underlining the depth of the bilateral relationship built on peace and solidarity.
