BP Secures Exploration License in Algeria’s Eastern Basin

Algeria’s National Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Valorization (ALNAFT) has granted British Petroleum (BP) an exploration license covering the country’s Eastern Basin, marking a major milestone in Algeria’s energy sector expansion.

In an exclusive statement to dzwatch, ALNAFT confirmed the deal, describing BP’s return as ‘a powerful signal of renewed international confidence in Algeria’s vast mining potential,’ as part of the agency’s broader strategy to boost national hydrocarbon attractiveness.

Algeria’s mining domain spans over 1.7 million square kilometers, offering enormous untapped potential. ALNAFT emphasized its commitment to driving innovation and integrating advanced exploration technologies to deepen knowledge of subsurface resources.

The license awarded to BP targets the Eastern Basin, with ambitions to deploy cutting-edge technologies that will unlock new energy horizons.
