Oil prices edged lower in early Friday trading, giving back some of the gains recorded in the previous session.
Brent crude futures dropped by $1.34, or 1.35%, settling at $98.05 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures fell $1.65, or 1.74%, to trade at $93.40 per barrel.
The dip comes after oil prices surged nearly 50% during last March, before retreating below the $100 per barrel threshold in recent weeks, hovering within the $90 range throughout the current week.
