Algeria Opens New Chapter in Climate Cooperation with Green Climate Fund

Algeria is opening a bold new chapter in its international climate partnerships, welcoming a high-level delegation from the Green Climate Fund in the first official visit of its kind, running from April 27 to May 1, 2026.

The landmark visit, overseen by the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life, aims to present Algeria’s national strategy on climate change and biodiversity, while unlocking international financing for sustainable development projects.

The delegation will conduct a field visit to the flagship Green Dam project — one of Algeria’s most ambitious environmental initiatives — being revitalized under a new vision that merges ecological and development goals in the fight against desertification.

Algeria told dzwatch that this engagement reflects its growing commitment to strengthening green partnerships and mobilizing global climate funds to support impactful, nationally driven environmental projects.
