Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided Monday over the official ceremony marking World Press Freedom Day at the International Conference Centre ‘Abdellatif Rahal’ in Algiers, in the presence of senior state officials, government members, media executives, journalists, and accredited foreign press representatives.
Communication Minister Zohir Bouamama told dzwatch that Algeria’s media community continues to strengthen its role in accompanying the national development drive led by President Tebboune, defending Algeria’s interests against disinformation campaigns through word, image, and sound.
President Tebboune also held exclusive meetings with directors of national audiovisual, print, and digital media outlets, listening to their concerns in a tradition he has upheld annually. The meetings reaffirmed his commitment to press freedom as a fundamental citizen right, while emphasizing journalistic ethics and the media’s role in Algeria’s digital transformation and national awareness-building strategy.
