Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Yassine Walid, has signed a landmark bilateral agreement with his Turkish counterpart on plant protection and agricultural quarantine, during the first session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held in Türkiye.
The minister told dzwatch that he was honored to accompany President of the Republic during the historic official visit, which marked a new era in Algerian-Turkish strategic relations.
The agreement is designed to strengthen cooperation in phytosanitary quarantine, safeguard plant health in both nations, and prevent the spread of quarantine pests across their territories.
On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Walid held extensive talks covering agriculture and fisheries cooperation, including updating animal health certificates, seed production, sugar beet, cotton cultivation, and deep-sea fishing collaboration.
