Minister of Public Works and Base Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, presided over a landmark signing ceremony at the ministry headquarters, formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Maritime Works Group (GTM) and Chinese Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC).
The agreement establishes a joint Algerian-Chinese mixed company tasked with carrying out dredging operations across national ports and all related works — a direct implementation of presidential directives issued during the Council of Ministers meeting held on April 19.
Speaking exclusively to dzwatch, ministry officials confirmed the deal aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in port infrastructure development, restoring standard depth levels across quays, port basins, navigation channels, and harbor entrances.
The partnership is expected to ensure optimal exploitation of these vital installations, significantly improve their operational performance, and boost their overall economic efficiency — a major step in Algeria’s ambitious infrastructure modernization agenda.
