ALGIERS – Algeria has marked a major milestone in its national transport infrastructure with the official reopening of the strategic twin tunnels connecting Hamdania and Chiffa in the direction of Algiers. The reopening ceremony was overseen by the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, signaling a major relief for commuters and logistics operators using this highly frequented corridor. In addition to celebrating the partial reopening, the Minister issued urgent directives aimed at accelerating the remaining works on the opposite direction of the tunnels, which link Chiffa to Hamdania toward Djelfa. He ordered the immediate mobilization of all necessary technical equipment and additional manpower to expedite outstanding tasks, ensuring that the remaining sections are brought into service at the earliest opportunity to complete the vital North-South connection.
