China has announced significant new measures aimed at enhancing trade with Africa, including the modernization of "green channels" and the effective implementation of zero-tariff treatment for African nations maintaining diplomatic ties with Beijing.

During a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that these initiatives are designed to broaden access for African products into the Chinese market, thereby fostering mutual benefits for both Chinese and African populations. This announcement follows a declaration from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) that, starting July 20th, China will grant full market access to African coffee beans that meet sanitary requirements.
The GAC specified that coffee beans from any African country with diplomatic relations with China can be exported to the Chinese market, provided they adhere to the regulations outlined in Announcement No. 68 of 2026. Chinese authorities confirmed that coffee beans now join the growing list of agricultural products eligible for unified regional access to the Chinese market.
Mao Ning emphasized that the zero-tariff treatment extended to the 53 concerned African countries represents "a new window of opportunity" for African exports. She affirmed that this policy underscores China's commitment to promoting cooperation based on "sincerity, effective results, friendship, and good faith," principles championed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in the context of Sino-African relations. The Chinese diplomat also expressed anticipation for a greater variety of high-quality African products and local specialties to enter the Chinese market in the coming years.
