Algeria – The USM Alger team secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Algerian Football Cup after defeating US Biskra with a score of (3-1 / halftime: 1-1) on Tuesday evening at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba, as part of the quarter-finals of the competition, completing the line-up for the golden square.
The goals for the capital club were scored by Basha (22nd minute), Belaid (73rd minute), and Belkasmi (78th minute), while the only goal for the team from “El Zibane” city was scored by player Sherif Siyam (23rd minute).
With this result, “Union Sportive Médina d’Alger” concludes the list of teams qualified for the golden square, joining their neighbor, MC Alger, who secured their qualification against Widad Tlemcen (2-0), and CS Constantine, who advanced against NA Hussein Dey on penalties (5-4) after the match ended in a draw in regular and extra time (0-0), as well as JS Kabylie, who qualified against JS Bordj Ménaïel on penalties (4-2) after the match ended in a draw in regular and extra time (3-3).
JS Kabylie was the runner-up in the previous edition of the cup, where they lost at the Stade Ahmed Zabana in Oran against ASO Chlef (2-1).
It’s worth noting that the quarter-final matches of this edition of the Algerian Cup were subject to Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, according to the decision of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
The Algerian Cup Competition Committee, affiliated with the FAF, announced that the draw ceremony for the semi-finals will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17, starting at 9:00 PM local time at the headquarters of the Algerian Public Television (Algiers), as it is the official broadcaster of the most popular competition matches.
