Boumerdes – The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mokhtar Didouche, confirmed today in Boumerdes that the management of beaches during the upcoming summer season will be prioritized for professionals and specialists, in accordance with the effective legal provisions.

During a press statement on the sidelines of an inspection and review visit to several sector projects in Boumerdes Province, the minister emphasized that the management of beaches in the next summer season will “favor operators with competence, experience, and professionalism, as stipulated in the current laws.”

The minister’s visit to Boumerdes is part of the ongoing field monitoring of preparations for the summer season and to assess the status of beach facilities as well as to inspect and review the construction of several hotel units, lay the foundation stone for new projects, and inaugurate completed ones.

He noted that the “dynamism” observed in the province, thanks to both completed and ongoing projects, “will enable it to promote and market beach tourism,” which is a distinguishing feature of the region.

While inspecting hotel construction projects in the province, the minister urged investors to “avoid importing” various equipment for hotels under construction, such as furniture and restaurant utensils, and instead rely on the “high quality” national production available to “encourage local production and save foreign currency.”

The minister began his working visit at the seaside front of Boumerdes city, where he listened to a presentation on the sector before inspecting a new privately-owned hotel with 243 beds and another with 155 beds that went operational last year.

He also stopped at a private hotel construction project with 344 beds and another project under construction with 168 beds, before laying the foundation stone for the commencement of a 150-bed private hotel project and another 150-bed hotel project in the municipality of Boudouaou.

Subsequently, the minister inaugurated the House of Handicrafts and Arts and distributed contracts for the benefit of its production and marketing outlets for traditional handicraft products. He then visited a traditional craft exhibition held at the same venue.

The minister also inspected Dolphin Beach, adjacent to the sea, where he listened to a presentation on the preparations for the upcoming summer season.
