Algeria’s Sonelgaz International Set to Lead Major Energy Projects Across Africa

Algeria's state-owned energy company, Sonelgaz International, is proving its mettle on the continental stage, poised to undertake significant energy projects across Africa. Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mustapha Guara, announced that the foundation stone for a 40-megawatt power plant in N'Djamena, Chad, will be laid in the coming days, with Sonelgaz International tasked with its construction. This initiative is part of the company's broader strategy to expand its footprint across the African continent.

The announcement came during the inauguration ceremony of a 40-megawatt Algerian-Nigerien solidarity power plant in Gourou Banda, Niger's capital, Niamey. The project was overseen by Algerian Prime Minister Aimé Gabriel, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, alongside his Nigerien counterpart, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine.

Minister Guara expressed satisfaction with the completion of the Niamey power plant, underscoring Sonelgaz International's capability to deliver large-scale energy projects beyond national borders within stipulated timelines. This achievement serves as a testament to the company's growing expertise and reliability.

Sonelgaz International has already begun preparations for new ventures in several African nations, with the Chad power plant project being a prime example. The company's technical prowess and ability to expedite project completion are driving a rising demand for its services from countries like Ivory Coast and Mozambique.
