Algeria Officially Breaks Ground on Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline Section in Adrar

DZWatch – Adrar, Algeria – In a significant step forward for regional energy infrastructure, Algeria has officially commenced work on its section of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP). The landmark project, designed to transport natural gas across the Sahara Desert, saw its Algerian phase launched with a formal ceremony in Adrar province.

Presiding over the proceedings were key figures from the energy sector of Algeria, Nigeria, and Niger. Representing Algeria was Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons. Nigeria was represented by Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and Niger by Hamadou Taino, the Minister of Petroleum. The joint ceremony underscored the collaborative nature of this ambitious undertaking.

The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project is poised to enhance energy security and foster economic development across the participating nations, leveraging Algeria's strategic position and natural resources.
