Algeria and Syria Forge Deeper Energy Ties in High-Level Bilateral Talks

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, met with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Touma, in Algiers. The high-level talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the crucial hydrocarbons sector, marking a significant step in deepening economic ties between the two nations.

The discussions encompassed a wide range of collaborative opportunities, including joint ventures in exploration and production, development of oil and gas fields, and advancements in refining and petrochemical industries. Both sides expressed keen interest in leveraging Algeria's extensive experience in the oil and gas value chain to support Syria's energy sector development.

Emphasis was placed on knowledge transfer and capacity building, with Algeria offering its expertise through Sonatrach, the national oil and gas company, and its affiliated training institutions. This includes specialized programs in geological and geophysical studies, infrastructure development, and technical training for Syrian professionals.

The Syrian minister expressed gratitude for Algeria's willingness to share its technical prowess and experience, highlighting its importance for the rehabilitation and growth of Syria's energy infrastructure. Minister Arkab reiterated Algeria's commitment to supporting Syria, in line with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's directives and the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.

The meeting underscored the shared vision for a robust and mutually beneficial energy partnership, aiming to enhance economic cooperation and foster sustainable development within both nations.
