Algerian Authorities Arrest Six for Drug Trafficking in El Taref

Regional security forces in El Taref have dismantled a drug trafficking ring operating in the municipality of Ain El Assal. The operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating two individuals were distributing drugs within the town center from a passenger vehicle.

Acting on this information, law enforcement officers raided the location in coordination with the El Taref Gendarmerie's investigation unit. The two suspects were apprehended and taken to the regional headquarters.

Following consultations with the public prosecutor at the Kalaa court, searches of the suspects' residences led to the arrest of four additional network members. During these searches, various types of illicit substances were seized.

The successful operation resulted in the detention of six individuals, aged between 20 and 35. Authorities confiscated a passenger car used for drug distribution, 100 grams of processed cannabis, 12 grams of cocaine, and 59 psychotropic pills. Additionally, tools used in drug trafficking, approximately 7000 Algerian Dinars in proceeds, and mobile phones were seized.

A judicial case has been compiled against the suspects, who have been presented to the competent judicial authorities for prosecution.
