The event saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Lounes Magramane, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Natasha Van Rijn, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Algeria, and members of the accredited diplomatic corps. During the ceremony, Ban Ki-moon expressed his profound gratitude for Algeria's warm reception and robust support under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He emphasized Algeria's consistent commitment to collaborating with the United Nations and global communities towards a better and sustainable world for all.

Ban Ki-moon highlighted the Algiers office as a pivotal opportunity for GGGI staff to serve African nations, reiterating his long-held belief during his tenure as UN Secretary-General that no single nation, regardless of its power or resources, can achieve sustainable development in isolation. He lauded Algeria's forward-thinking vision in fostering partnerships with international organizations like GGGI to achieve shared goals.

The inauguration featured presentations on Algeria's burgeoning green economy and agricultural technology startup ecosystem. The delegation also toured the new office facilities. The Algiers bureau is poised to enhance cooperation in critical areas such as sustainable development, food security, environmental protection, and the advancement of the green economy. Algeria's membership in the GGGI, which became effective in mid-2025 following President Tebboune's directives, aligns with the institute's mission to bolster the technical capacities of member states in green growth and sustainability. The GGGI is headquartered in Seoul.
