Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by senior state officials, government ministers, and representatives from economic bodies. His visit commenced at the pavilion of Spain, the guest of honor for this edition, which features numerous Spanish economic enterprises.
During the inauguration, President Tebboune received a comprehensive presentation from the Minister of Trade and National Stock Control, Amal Abdellatif, detailing Algeria's economic landscape. The presentation highlighted significant strides in the industrial sector over recent years, including the evolution of commercial registries and the growth of businesses in production and services.
Minister Abdellatif emphasized Algeria's industrial progress, stating, "National industry has moved from strengthening production to building economic sovereignty, yielding tangible results today." Several industrial sectors, including building materials, home appliances, food industries, cosmetics, cleaning products, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and furniture, have experienced substantial increases in domestic market coverage, with many now turning towards export. National coverage rates in these sectors range from 50% to 80%, with some products achieving full self-sufficiency.
The fair prominently displays the outcomes of Algeria's national industrial policy, featuring Algerian-made products that have replaced previously imported goods. The showcased projects underscore the nation's economic transformation, focusing on boosting domestic production, reducing import dependency, facilitating technology transfer, creating employment, and increasing non-hydrocarbon exports.
This 57th edition of the Algiers International Fair features 36 participating countries and 781 exhibiting companies, comprising 202 international and 579 national firms.
President Tebboune toured various pavilions of Algerian and foreign companies, gaining insights into their achievements and investments across diverse sectors. Notably, he visited the pavilion of "Sonelgaz International," a subsidiary of the Sonelgaz group, highlighting its expansion into African nations for partnership and investment opportunities. The President also stopped by the stands of the National Committee for Subcontracting in the Automotive Industry (AIDA) and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council.
Earlier in his tour, the President had visited the pavilions of Spain, Chad, Tunisia, and the Sultanate of Oman. He also visited the Ministry of National Defense pavilion, where he was briefed on the military industries and production structures of the People's National Army.
