The discussions centered on joint projects to address current environmental challenges, particularly climate change and the promotion of a circular economy. Minister Kherif highlighted Algeria's experience in combating desertification, referencing the "Great Green Wall" project, an ecological initiative launched in 2023 under the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Both nations are actively preparing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to formalize their environmental collaboration. This agreement aims to facilitate the sharing of Algerian expertise in biodiversity and for Niger to benefit from Algeria's experience in circular economy principles and waste management.
Niger's Minister Abdoulaye emphasized the importance of this enhanced cooperation, noting that the forthcoming MoU will significantly boost bilateral environmental ties, reflecting the growing dynamism in Algeria-Niger relations.
