President Tebboune Arrives in Germany for Two-Day Official Visit

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune arrived in Berlin on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, following an invitation from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The presidential aircraft landed at Berlin airport, marking the start of a visit expected to give new momentum to political dialogue and bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Germany.
During his stay, Tebboune is scheduled to be formally received by Steinmeier, while talks with senior German officials will focus on relations between the two countries and opportunities to expand cooperation in several strategic sectors.
The German government has confirmed that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will receive the Algerian president at the Federal Chancellery on Thursday, July 16. Discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, energy and raw materials, followed by a joint press appearance. Tebboune is also due to be welcomed by Steinmeier with military honours before the meeting at the Chancellery.
The visit comes as Algeria and Germany seek to strengthen a partnership built on political consultation, economic exchanges and shared interests in energy, industry, investment and technological cooperation.
Algeria holds an important position in the Mediterranean and North Africa, while Germany remains one of Europe’s leading industrial and economic powers. Closer cooperation could open new opportunities for companies, institutions and investors from both countries.
The official visit also reflects the importance attached by Algiers and Berlin to maintaining direct dialogue on regional and international issues. It offers both leaders an opportunity to review existing cooperation, identify new areas of partnership and reinforce coordination on matters of mutual interest.
Tebboune’s arrival in Berlin therefore represents a significant diplomatic step and is expected to contribute to a stronger, more diversified and mutually beneficial relationship between Algeria and Germany in the coming years and support long-term stability across the wider Mediterranean region.
