Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, has announced plans to increase Algeria’s natural gas production to 200 billion cubic meters annually in the near future.

In a statement to public television, Arkab mentioned that Algeria’s current natural gas production, which stands at 137 billion cubic meters, will be increased to 200 billion cubic meters annually. This will be achieved by enhancing exploration, production, and transportation levels, with a strong reliance on the expertise and skills of Sonatrach.

The minister emphasized that, following the President’s directives, his sector will focus on manufacturing industries instead of exporting raw materials, whether gas or oil.
