The President of the National Independent Election Authority, Mohamed Cherfi, affirmed that the authority is mobilizing all human and material resources to ensure proper preparation for the upcoming presidential elections.
During a press conference held on the sidelines of inaugurating the new provincial delegation headquarters of the National Independent Election Authority in Sidi Bel Abbes, Cherfi stated that the authority has become the “safeguard” for elections, thanks to the 2020 constitutional amendment.
He emphasized that the authority focuses its efforts on thoroughly preparing for the elections through effective performance, awareness-raising, explanation, and taking organizational and legal measures adapted to the new legal reality.
Cherfi added, “We have completed all preparations to start distributing signature collection forms to those wishing to run in the presidential elections immediately after the President signs the decree to convene the electorate for this important electoral event. This will be done by mobilizing a sufficient number of notaries and judicial officers to complete the process within the legally specified deadlines.”
He also assured that the upcoming presidential election will be conducted under the best conditions of transparency and democracy, thanks to the extensive experience acquired by the National Independent Election Authority and its possession of the necessary material, technological, and human resources, making it a safeguard against any attempts at fraud.
It is worth noting that the new headquarters of the provincial delegation of the National Independent Election Authority in Sidi Bel Abbes can accommodate 400 people and will be used for training purposes.
