Algeria Signs Industrial Partnerships and Launches Brake Manufacturing Plant in Algiers

Algeria’s Prime Minister, Seifi Ghrieb, presided on Wednesday in Algiers over the signing ceremony of two industrial cooperation agreements in the field of mechanical subcontracting. The agreements were concluded between Maintenance Company of the East (a subsidiary of the GICA Group) and both Stellantis Algeria and Ident.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the inauguration of a new factory dedicated to the production of brake pads and related components, operated by the same company. The event was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, the Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, and the Minister of Finance, Abdelkrim Bouzred, along with several officials and economic operators.

These agreements fall ضمن efforts to strengthen economic partnerships, support industrial subcontracting, and enhance the competitiveness of Algerian products in the domestic market.

Acting on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister also officially launched the factory, located in the Rouiba industrial zone. The project reflects the government’s strategy to repurpose recovered assets linked to corruption cases and reintegrate them into the national economy as productive ventures.

The new facility is expected to boost local production capacity, meet domestic demand, and reduce reliance on imports. It also opens the door for future export opportunities, while contributing to job creation and generating added economic value, in line with Algeria’s broader industrial development goals.
