Algeria Becomes Spain’s Leading Gas Supplier in July

Algeria significantly reinforced its position as a crucial energy partner for Spain in July, becoming the leading supplier of gas to the European nation. Data indicates that Algeria accounted for 41.7% of Spain's total gas imports during the month. This notable achievement places Algeria ahead of other major international suppliers, including Nigeria, which provided 15.4% of the supply, and the United States, at 11.6%.

This development highlights Algeria's strategic importance within the European energy market, demonstrating its capability to consistently deliver substantial volumes of gas to key partners. The leadership position in July reflects Algeria's reliability and established infrastructure in meeting the energy demands of its trading partners, particularly in a dynamic global energy landscape.

The shift in Spain's import portfolio saw Russia rank fourth among gas exporters in July, supplying 8.1% of the total volume, equivalent to 2,088 GWh of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This figure, noted by Spanish energy company data, represents a slight decrease from the 2,150 GWh supplied a year prior. Algeria's clear lead in monthly supplies reaffirms its integral role in diversifying Spain's energy sources and strengthening bilateral energy cooperation.
