Boudjemaa Directs Full Use of Legal Tools in Crime Fight

Algeria's Justice Minister and Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boudjemaa, has called for the strictest application of available legal mechanisms to counter serious and organized crime. This directive specifically targets drug trafficking, organized crime, smuggling, corruption, financial offences, and terrorism, underlining a resolute approach to upholding the rule of law.

Minister Boudjemaa chaired a working meeting at the Ministry of Justice, bringing together presidents of judicial councils and public prosecutors from specialized criminal judicial divisions across Algiers, Oran, Constantine, and Ouargla. The meeting, attended by senior central administration officials, focused on criminal policy and the necessary actions to combat serious forms of crime, including offences involving narcotics, psychotropic substances, speculation, foreign-exchange offences, and capital movements.

During the session, the Justice Minister issued a series of operational directives aimed at enhancing judicial practices and strengthening coordination among institutions involved in criminal proceedings, particularly the judicial police across its various branches. These measures emphasize mobilizing all available capabilities and resources and making effective use of the full range of legal instruments. The ministry's objective for this approach is to reinforce public order and security, while simultaneously ensuring that all enforcement actions remain firmly anchored in the protection of rights and freedoms.
