Wildfire Victims in Algeria Receive Substantial French Diaspora Support

Solidarity efforts to aid victims of the recent wildfires in Algeria have been extensively organized from France, with members of the Algerian diaspora and various community organizations launching multiple fundraising campaigns. These initiatives provide Algerians abroad with a direct means to contribute to the extensive relief efforts. Among these, a notable fundraiser initiated by Franco-Algerian entrepreneur Sofiane Lesage on Leetchi has collected over 374,000 euros.

Further contributions to relief efforts include the “Urgence, l’Algérie brûle” campaign on Cotizup by the association Espoir et Avenir, which has surpassed 100,000 euros towards its 120,000 euro goal. The Mosquée Abou Bakr Essedik Roubaix also launched a collection on Cotizup, raising 42,130 euros. Additionally, Lynda Aberkane’s initiative on Leetchi gathered 39,243 euros, and the Grande Mosquée de Paris has also initiated a fundraiser on the HelloAsso platform to support victims in the eastern and central regions of Algeria.

These fundraising efforts are widely regarded as credible and reliable, ensuring that donations are securely transmitted to the wildfire victims. Platforms such as HelloAsso, Cotizup, and Leetchi are generally considered trustworthy, although they operate with varying levels of verification. HelloAsso, for instance, has stringent requirements, prohibiting access to individuals and demanding official organizational documents. These mechanisms help assure participants that their contributions will reach those affected by the fires effectively.
