Nemour and Ouikène Secure Dual Gold at Mediterranean Games

Algerian athletes achieved significant success at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, with Kaylia Nemour securing a gold medal in gymnastics and Cylia Ouikène earning gold in karate. This marked a particularly productive day for the Algerian delegation, highlighting strong individual performances across multiple disciplines.

Kaylia Nemour excelled in the individual general gymnastics competition, where she claimed the gold medal for Algeria. Earlier in the day, Cylia Ouikène demonstrated a dominant performance in the karate under-50 kg final, defeating Italy's Erminia Perfetto with a score of 9 to 3 to secure her gold. These triumphs underscored Algeria's strong showing at the event.

Beyond the gold medals, the Algerian team also secured additional distinctions. Nihade Ben Chadli earned a silver medal in the women's individual scull rowing, while Anis Chott achieved a silver in the 1500-meter athletics event. The Algerian 3×3 basketball team secured a bronze medal after a victory against Turkey. With these contributions, Algeria's overall medal count at the Mediterranean Games reached 25, comprising 6 gold, 6 silver, and 13 bronze medals, positioning the nation in 10th place in the general classification.
