Minister Belaribi Directs Enhanced Wildfire Support Operations

Algeria's Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, chaired a significant coordination meeting today to address the ongoing support for provinces impacted by recent wildfires. The meeting brought together key ministry officials, including the General Director of the National Technical Control Body for Construction (CTC), along with housing directors and CTC agency directors from the affected areas. The primary focus of the session was to ensure operational follow-up and coordination across all stages, from field technical assessment of damages to the disbursement of financial aid for affected families.

During the meeting, Minister Belaribi issued several directives aimed at strengthening the government's response. He mandated a doubling of CTC engineers, requiring their deployment to the affected provinces within 72 hours to enhance field technical assessment and monitoring operations. Furthermore, housing directors in the concerned provinces were tasked with preparing special decisions to grant financial assistance to affected families, with the National Housing Bank (BNH) assigned to implement these aid decisions in accordance with established legal procedures.

In a move to accelerate recovery, the Minister also directed that necessary human resources be made available to housing directors and public facilities directors. This mobilization is intended to facilitate the immediate commencement of cleaning and rehabilitation operations for damaged homes and public infrastructure. To ensure the effective implementation of these comprehensive measures and to monitor the progress of support for affected families and rehabilitation efforts, another coordination and evaluation meeting is scheduled to take place within the next 72 hours.
