Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, emphasized Algeria’s eagerness to deepen and expand its partnership with Turkey, particularly in promising productive sectors.

In his speech at the opening of the Algerian-Turkish Businessmen Forum on Monday, Zitouni outlined five new areas of cooperation: agricultural and food products, mechanical and household appliances, plastic industries and packaging, products integrated into global value chains, and the tourism and services sector.

The minister invited Turkish and Algerian companies to seize these opportunities to jointly enter the African market, which offers a free trade area with revenues amounting to 3000 billion US dollars.

Algeria, as Zitouni added, aims to achieve African integration through several structural projects with a continental dimension, such as the trans-Saharan road, and the establishment of five free trade zones to deepen its African ties. In this context, Minister Zitouni called on Turkish partners to collaborate with Algeria in managing these free trade zones.

The Algerian-Turkish relations are deeply rooted in history, with both nations sharing significant leadership potential. Both countries have fought for freedom and sovereignty, combated terrorism, and faced external pressures.

The minister highlighted that Turkey and Algeria exchange a positive outlook characterized by understanding and respect, with economic sovereignty and commercial cooperation based on a win-win logic. This approach is well understood by our Turkish friends, who, like us, reject all forms of economic domination and imposition.

Zitouni pointed out that since early 2020, the economic cooperation between Algeria and Turkey has gained significant momentum, with bilateral trade volume reaching 6.3 billion dollars last year.

Looking ahead, the minister expressed his hope to achieve the goals set during the meetings between the leaders of the two countries, aiming to consolidate, enhance, and expand bilateral relations. Continuous efforts and necessary steps will be taken to strengthen bilateral ties in various fields.

The Algerian-Turkish Businessmen Forum is being held today in conjunction with the opening of the Algiers International Fair, where Turkey is the guest of honor for the 55th edition.
