Diplomatic Push: Algeria Calls for Arab Economic Integration, Palestine Support

At the 118th ordinary session of the Arab League Economic and Social Council at ministerial level in Cairo, Algeria actively participated, with its Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Sofiane Baraah, representing the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion. On this occasion, Algeria extended its sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to Egypt following a bus accident in South Sinai that resulted in casualties and injuries. Furthermore, Algeria reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people's inalienable rights, including the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Algeria underscored the critical importance of Arab economic work and trade cooperation, viewing them as fundamental pillars for bolstering the collective capacity of Arab nations to address current economic challenges. The nation emphasized the necessity of cultivating a suitable political environment and strengthening mechanisms for joint Arab action to propel Arab economic integration forward. During its recent presidency of the Council's 117th session, Algeria prioritized enhancing coordination and consultation to achieve consensual decisions that genuinely reflected the collective will of Arab states.

This approach was rooted in Algeria's conviction that the economic and social challenges confronting the region demand heightened Arab solidarity, intensified consultation, and unified efforts to formulate shared visions and practical solutions. Initiatives advanced by Algeria during its previous presidency included addressing climate change, promoting environmental protection within the framework of sustainable development, ensuring a high quality of life, and examining the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market. Algeria remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at developing the Arab economy, activating joint Arab action mechanisms, and reinforcing cooperation in sustainable development, all of which enhance the ability of Arab countries to navigate challenges in trade, investment, and development, thereby fulfilling the aspirations of Arab peoples for greater prosperity and stability.
