Digital Translation Explored at Algerian Scientific Forum
Oran, Algeria, is hosting the third international edition of the Month of Translation, an event celebrating translation as a vital bridge for knowledge and a platform for communication across languages and cultures. Running from September 1 to September 28, the scientific gathering serves as a forum for researchers and interested parties from Algeria and around the world to exchange expertise and insights. The event, held under the theme "Interaction, Science, Citizenship," underscores Algeria's commitment to fostering intellectual development and cross-cultural understanding.
The Al-Wahrani Academy for Scientific Studies and Cultural Interaction in Oran, through its Translation and Languages Unit, is organizing the event in partnership with numerous scientific and cultural institutions, both Algerian and international, to commemorate International Translation Day. Professor Saleh Belaid, President of the Supreme Council for the Arabic Language, serves as the honorary chair for the scientific event. Dr. Souad Besnassi from Oran University "1," a member of the Supreme Council for the Arabic Language's Translation Committee and President of the Al-Wahrani Academy, presides over the international aspect of the event. The opening session featured a virtual dialogue with Dr. Saad Abdul Aziz Maslouh from Egypt, broadcast live across virtual platforms, alongside contributions from various international speakers.
A primary objective of the Month of Translation is to explore the cognitive relationships between digital translation and artificial intelligence. Participants and organizers aim to research the cognitive approaches and procedural tools necessary for digital terminology translation and utilization. The event also delves into methods for creating terminology to meet the demands of a knowledge-based society through digital translation, while examining the ethical and professional relationship between digital translation and scientific integrity.
