Rachid Hashishi, the President and General Manager of Sonatrach, oversaw the opening of an awareness meeting on Monday about the “Cyber Risks and Threats” targeting institutions.
In his address, Hashishi emphasized that Sonatrach must now, more than ever, take the necessary measures to protect its facilities and employees due to its vital role in the national economy.
Hashishi added that all executives of the company must be aware and be at the forefront of the “preventive battle.”
He also pointed out that cybersecurity does not only involve securing the IT environment but also extends to securing the operational technology environment.
In this context, the Sonatrach Director stressed the need to strictly apply cybersecurity guidelines in industrial facilities, especially the instructions issued by the specialized internal departments.
