Algiers – The Ministry of Culture and Arts has decided to postpone all major artistic festivals scheduled for this summer in alignment with Algeria’s efforts to support the Palestinian cause, as stated in a ministry announcement on Friday.
The statement emphasized that “based on Algeria’s leading and steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people in their legitimate and valiant resistance against Zionist brutality, and in line with the efforts of the Algerian state, led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to support the oppressed Palestinian people facing escalating atrocities and genocide by Zionist criminal forces, the Ministry of Culture and Arts has decided to postpone all major artistic festivals scheduled for this summer.”
Additionally, it was decided to “adapt other cultural and intellectual activities to the solidarity stance supporting the Palestinian cause and to enhance cultural events aimed at reinforcing local popular cultures and the components of national identity.”
