President Tebboune Directs Social Card Acceleration

Algeria is rapidly advancing the development of its national social card project, following direct instructions from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a Council of Ministers meeting on June 21. The High Commissioner for Digitization, Mariam Ben Mouloud, recently chaired the fifth working group meeting dedicated to this initiative, underscoring the government's commitment to modernizing social welfare and public policy implementation.

This strategic project aims to establish a unified national reference, providing crucial support for public decision-making and significantly improving the direction of social policies. An advanced information system has been developed by the High Commission for Digitization, in coordination with various relevant sectors. This system integrates a national reference for aid and an individual national reference, alongside a comprehensive dashboard, all built upon reliable data and indicators supplied by participating entities.

The working group's discussions focused on the technical and organizational aspects necessary for the project's completion, emphasizing the critical need for high levels of data accuracy and reliability. Efforts are being accelerated, and inter-sectoral coordination is being strengthened to ensure the project's successful implementation before the upcoming social entry period. Upon its completion, the national social card is expected to rationalize social support, embed principles of social justice, increase the effectiveness of public policies, and enhance their capacity to respond to the needs of citizens.
