President Tebboune Honors Top Students in Algeria

Today, Tuesday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune presided over a ceremony at the Palace of the People in Algiers to honor the top students in the 2024 Baccalaureate and Middle School Certificate exams. The president awarded medals, gifts, and financial rewards to the outstanding students.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking state officials, members of the government, and the families of the honored students.

In the Baccalaureate exams, the President honored the top national achiever, Mohamed El Amine Megrane, from Belkebir Abdelkader High School in Tipaza, who achieved a score of 19.62 in the Mathematics stream. The second top student, Rahab Maria Ines from Colonel Lotfi High School in Oran, scored 19.54 in Experimental Sciences, while the third top student, Oulem Wassal from Les Frères Achi High School in Khenchela, scored 19.52 in Experimental Sciences.

The President also honored Jalouche Jadid Riyad from the “Martyr Hamdani” School of the Nation in Oran, who achieved a score of 19.10 in the Mathematics stream.

Among students with special needs who excelled in the Baccalaureate exams, the President honored Hajar Cherki, who scored 17.87 in Experimental Sciences from Batna, Ala Lechelh, who scored 17.69 from El Oued, and Chamseddine Aribi, who scored 16.63 in Literature and Philosophy from Médéa.

In the Middle School Certificate exams, the President honored the top national achievers, led by Lina Zeghar from Mohamed Azouz Middle School in Laghouat, who achieved a score of 19.94. Hadeel Khitous from Daoudi Saleh Middle School in Ras El Ayoun, Batna, scored 19.92, and Shahd Nour El Huda Zaoui from Colonel Hawass Middle School in M’sila, scored 19.87.

For students with special needs who excelled in the Middle School Certificate exams, the President honored Nora Douaa Touhami from Setif, who scored 18.08, Ibrahim Ben Ahmed from Mila, who scored 17.89, and Mohamed Amer from the Central Education Directorate in Algiers, who scored 17.54.

Additionally, the President gave a special honor to Shamseddine Derrach, who won a gold medal in the Mathematics Olympiad held in the UK and graduated with honors, achieving a Baccalaureate score of 18.05.

The ceremony also saw the top students in each Baccalaureate stream being honored by the President.

On this occasion, the Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, expressed his gratitude to the President for his personal supervision and esteemed patronage of the ceremony, as well as for his special attention to the Algerian education system. The minister highlighted the “historical improvement” in this year’s exam results, noting that the 2024 results were the “best since independence, both in quantity and quality.”

Minister Belabed also praised the “strategic and historical achievements” in the education sector, especially in pedagogical and educational fields, as well as in social and professional aspects. He emphasized that these accomplishments were made possible by the President’s program, which provided the necessary resources and mechanisms to enhance performance.

Honored Students Express Pride in Presidential Recognition

The top students in the Baccalaureate and Middle School Certificate exams expressed their pride and honor in receiving special recognition from the President. They conveyed their hopes of contributing to the country’s advancement and prosperity.

Shamseddine Derrach, the Mathematics Olympiad winner, appreciated the “direct support and continuous encouragement” from the President. He dedicated his medal to the President on behalf of all Algerian students, acknowledging the special attention given to education and the encouragement of outstanding students.

Derrach expressed his aspiration to continue his studies at the Higher School of Mathematics, which he believes will offer promising opportunities.

Similarly, top national achievers in the Baccalaureate and Middle School Certificate exams, Mohamed El Amine Megrane and Lina Zeghar, expressed their pride in the recognition, which motivates them to “continue pursuing knowledge and acquiring new skills to serve Algeria in vital and precise scientific fields in the future.”

Jalouche Jadid Riyad, the top student from the Schools of the Nation, stated that the positive results achieved by the Schools of the Nation annually reflect the reality of the slogan under which the students are nurtured. He hopes to continue serving the country and defending its supreme interests within the military institution that “nurtures and trains its children to defend the nation on all fronts.”

At the end of the ceremony, the honored students took a group photo with the President, amid great joy from their families.
