Touggourt Gendarmerie Dismantles Drug Network, Seizes 10,000 Pills

The Regional Group of the National Gendarmerie in Touggourt successfully dismantled an organized criminal network this week, which had been active in the smuggling and trafficking of psychotropic drugs. The operation led to the seizure of 10,439 capsules of Pregabalin 300mg, a significant quantity reflecting the network's scale and the effectiveness of the Gendarmerie's efforts.

According to a statement from the Information and Communication Department of the National Gendarmerie Command, the success of the operation was attributed to the meticulous deployment of Gendarmerie elements. This involved securing and closing all outlets and road axes identified as routes for various criminal networks, effectively cutting off their movement.

Following the careful inspection of public passenger transport vehicles, two individuals were apprehended in connection with the network. In addition to the psychotropic pills, a sum of 71,000 Algerian Dinars was also confiscated. Legal proceedings have since been initiated, with the arrested individuals presented before the Public Prosecution at the Touggourt Court.
