El Tarf, Sétif Firms Initiate New Export Operations

Algeria has initiated several new export operations for electronic and home appliances from its wilayas of El Tarf, Sétif, and Bordj Bou Arréridj. These shipments are directed towards Tunisia and other markets across the Maghreb and Africa. These initiatives underscore the increasing competitiveness of national products and align with the nation's strategic efforts to diversify its economy beyond hydrocarbon exports.
From the Souarekh municipality in El Tarf, the Biolux company, which markets the Maxwall brand, dispatched 10 containers holding 1,000 units of various Algerian home appliances to Tunisia. This operation, overseen by the Wali of El Tarf, Mohammed Meziane, and Abdel Rahman Saadi, Central Director at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, marks Biolux's 17th export venture since early 2026. The company boasts a daily production capacity of 3,000 to 3,500 products and currently employs approximately 1,500 workers, with plans to increase this number to 2,000 by early 2027.
Concurrently, the wilaya of Sétif saw the launch of an export operation involving eight trucks laden with Samsung-branded home appliances, which are manufactured in Algeria, bound for Tunisia. This shipment is part of Sinova’s ongoing export activities, directing a portion of its Algerian-made products to external markets. Bordj Bou Arréridj also served as a starting point for similar export operations.
These combined efforts are integral to the sector's broader export momentum, reflecting a successful strategy to support industrial investment and expand the volume of non-hydrocarbon exports. Ministry officials affirm that these operations enhance the international competitiveness of Algerian products and contribute significantly to diversifying markets and destinations, thereby increasing the share of value-added industrial products within Algeria’s total exports.
