Minister Meddahi Introduces Algeria’s First National Hotel Brand

Algeria has officially launched its first national hotel brand, "Kazar Tlemcen," marking a significant step in establishing an authentic Algerian presence within the tourism industry. The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi, oversaw the inauguration in Tlemcen at the hotel previously known as "Renaissance" on the Lalla Setti plateau. This new brand, managed by the Algerian Hotel Investment Company, aims to transition to a distinct national identity while maintaining luxury hotel standards, high-end services, and elevated specifications.
Minister Meddahi emphasized that "Kazar Tlemcen" represents a new milestone in the development of Algeria's tourism and hotel sector, reinforcing the positive momentum seen in recent years. The name "Kazar" is inspired by Tlemcen's Andalusian cultural heritage, signifying "palace" and reflecting luxurious architectural design. The selection of Tlemcen for this launch underscores the strategic importance accorded to the wilaya's rich historical and tourist assets, aligning with efforts by the country's high authorities to valorize cultural heritage and historical significance across Algerian regions.
The introduction of "Kazar Tlemcen" is expected to strengthen the national hotel landscape and highlight the capabilities of Algerian tourism institutions in professional facility management. This initiative aims to attract further investment and enhance Tlemcen's visibility as a prime tourist destination. Furthermore, this endeavor aligns with the President's vision for economic diversification, positioning tourism as a fundamental driver for local development and job creation throughout the nation.
