ALCAZAR COLLECTION Debuts as Algeria’s National Hotel Brand

Algeria officially launched its first national hotel brand, ALCAZAR COLLECTION, yesterday, a move highlighted by the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Houria Meddahi. The launch event took place at the ALCAZAR Tlemcen hotel, located on the Lalla Setti plateau, which previously operated under the name Renaissance. This initiative represents a significant step towards establishing an authentic Algerian hotel brand, transitioning to a national identity while preserving the luxury classification and high-end services of its properties under the supervision of the Algerian Hotel Investment Company.

Minister Meddahi emphasized that the ALCAZAR COLLECTION forms a new cornerstone in the development of Algeria's tourism and hotel industry, reinforcing the positive momentum seen in the sector. The brand reflects the country's strategic efforts to valorize its cultural heritage and historical significance, with the name "Alcazar" itself drawing inspiration from Tlemcen's Andalusian cultural legacy, signifying a palace and luxurious architecture. The launch is seen as a tangible embodiment of the transformation within Algeria's hotel sector, guided by a strategic vision to elevate Algerian hotel services to the highest standards of quality and sustainability, enabling competition with major international hotel brands.

The selection of Tlemcen for the brand's national launch underscores the strategic importance placed on enhancing the historical and tourism assets of the region. The ALCAZAR Tlemcen hotel itself is situated at approximately 900 meters above sea level on the Lalla Setti plateau, offering comprehensive views of the city and boasting proximity to the Lalla Setti park and cable car station. The five-star property, owned by the public economic enterprise Société d'Investissement Hôtelier (SIH/EPE/SPA) and operational since November 2011, features 204 rooms and 11 suites, along with diverse amenities including multiple restaurants, a spa, a gym, and extensive business facilities. This hotel represents the initial phase of an ambitious trajectory to develop Algerian hotel brands that leverage national architectural memory and civilization, delivering refined hospitality experiences that reflect authentic Algerian traditions and support the promotion of Algeria as a national tourism destination.
