September 2026 Sees Algeria in Africa’s Top 10 for Low Fuel Prices

Algeria is ranked among the top 10 African countries with the lowest fuel prices in September 2026, according to data from GlobalPetrolPrices. This favorable standing for the nation comes after fuel prices for Algeria saw a slight decrease compared to the previous month.

Lower fuel costs have a direct and significant impact across various sectors of an economy. The World Bank estimates that a substantial portion of goods in Africa, between 80% and 90%, are transported by road, with transport expenses potentially accounting for up to 45% of the retail price of essential food items. Consequently, cheaper petrol can lead to reduced costs for moving food, workers, raw materials, and finished products, contributing to overall economic stability.

For Algerian households, reduced transport expenses mean more disposable income, which can be allocated to necessities like food and housing, or other spending. This sustained position among the countries with the lowest fuel prices in Africa reflects a tangible economic benefit for Algeria and its citizens.
