UK, Algeria Discuss Investment Across Five Key Sectors

Officials from Algeria and the United Kingdom recently convened in Algiers to explore avenues for joint investment projects and enhance economic cooperation. The meeting, which brought together representatives from the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and Hannah Barbosa, Regional Director for Trade Policy at the British Ministry of Business and Trade, alongside British Embassy officials, also addressed the potential for organizing a business forum. This forum would gather Algerian and British economic operators to foster wider economic partnerships.

Discussions centered on investment opportunities and strengthening economic ties, with a particular focus on priority sectors identified as foundations for future joint ventures. These areas include mining and mining industries, digitization, agriculture, energy, and renewable energies. Both parties reviewed Algeria's current investment climate, highlighting the incentives and facilities available to investors.

The gathering served as a follow-up to the second meeting of the Algerian-British working group, held last April, and aims to advance preparations for the team's upcoming session. To solidify bilateral economic and commercial relations, both sides agreed to intensify information exchange. This collaborative effort seeks to identify specific investment opportunities and develop shared projects that will contribute to expanding the economic partnership and diversifying cooperation between Algeria and Britain.
