President Tebboune Orders Fundamental Overhaul of National Product Marketing System

Algiers – During the Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune instructed the government to carry out a radical overhaul of the national product marketing system to ensure effective delivery to citizens and to remain vigilant against any factors that could lead to shortages.

According to the official communiqué from the Council of Ministers, after reviewing a joint presentation by the Ministers of Trade, Industry, and Agriculture on shortage prevention, President Tebboune directed the government to introduce new legislation. This law would implement price ceiling regulations through decrees whenever products are sold at unreasonably high prices during their peak season.

The President expressed dissatisfaction with the lax attitude displayed by some officials, emphasizing the need for everyone to recommit to their responsibilities. He reminded public servants that serving the citizens must remain their primary focus.

In addition, President Tebboune instructed the government to adopt the highest level of vigilance. Regulatory bodies, including security agencies, were urged to intensify their monitoring efforts. He identified food products, agricultural goods, and pharmaceuticals as the top priorities, stressing the importance of heightened oversight to prevent any disruptions.
