Algiers – On Sunday, the Algerian Stock Exchange hosted a delegation from the Tunisian Stock Exchange to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two institutions, with a particular focus on boosting the role of brokers.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Yazid Ben Mouhoub, Director-General of the Algerian Stock Exchange Management Company, stated that the discussions aimed to foster closer ties with the Tunisian side and benefit from Tunisia’s experience in the financial market. The goal is to develop new solutions that will inject fresh dynamism into the Algerian stock exchange, primarily by activating the role of brokers.
The talks also explored how the Algerian stock exchange could benefit from Tunisia’s newly launched digital system, which enables more efficient communication between brokers, according to the same source.
Boosting Market Dynamics Through Broker Involvement
Ben Mouhoub highlighted the crucial role of brokers in supporting market activity by creating more investment opportunities for shareholders. He emphasized the need to develop an efficient brokerage network to attract more trading activity and facilitate capital mobilization.
For his part, Bilal Sahnoun, Director-General of the Tunis Stock Exchange, noted that the similarities between the Algerian and Tunisian markets present significant opportunities for joint development. Key areas for collaboration include modern technologies, valuation and listing mechanisms, and strategies to attract investors. He also mentioned the potential for partnerships between brokers from both countries to strengthen regional market integration.
The Role of Brokers in Financial Markets

Their role also involves executing trades on the market and managing bond portfolios under mandate, making them essential players in market liquidity and investor engagement.
