Algiers – During a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune issued a directive to allow the unrestricted import of raw materials essential for production and key industries, according to a statement released by the Council.
The communiqué stated that after reviewing a presentation on import regulation measures, the President instructed that no restrictions be imposed on the import of raw materials used in production chains and vital industries. However, other import operations will remain subject to prior authorization.
President Tebboune emphasized that Algeria will not ban imports, clarifying that such measures are only applied in exceptional cases to encourage the growth of national production. He stressed that import control policies aim to protect Algeria’s financial reserves and strengthen the economy while ensuring long-term stability.
