
Algiers – Dr. Saleh Belaid, President of the Algerian High Council for the Arabic Language, has been honored with the King Salman Global Award for the Arabic Language in Saudi Arabia, in the individual category for “Promoting Linguistic Awareness and Developing Community-based Language Initiatives”, according to the award’s official website.
The winners of the third edition of the award (2024) were announced, with Belaid receiving recognition for his outstanding contributions to the Arabic language, particularly through research promoting linguistic identity, historical studies of the language, and addressing key issues such as Arabization, terminology development, identity, and civilization.
Recognition for Efforts in Policy Development and Research
Belaid was awarded for his remarkable efforts as the head of the Algerian High Council for the Arabic Language, where he actively worked to develop language policies, integrate Arabic more effectively into all educational sectors, and encourage scientific research in Arabic language and literature. His participation in numerous international conferences and academic forums further highlights his significant impact on the promotion of the Arabic language.
Award Ceremony and Other Winners
The award also recognized individuals and institutions from the UAE, China, and Saudi Arabia in other categories. The prestigious ceremony will take place on November 24, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
