Imetal Renames Itself “National Iron Company” in a Nod to Algeria’s Industrial Roots

Annaba – The General Manager of the Algerian Metallurgical and Steel Industries Group, Imetal, Mr. Adel Khoman, announced on Thursday that the company has officially rebranded as the “National Iron Company.” This name revives the title of Algeria’s first iron and steel enterprise, founded in the early years following independence. The announcement took place at the Sider El Hadjar complex in Annaba during a special ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s National Liberation Revolution, attended by Annaba Governor Abdelkader Djelloui and the heads of Imetal’s various subsidiaries.

The renaming aligns with the 60th anniversary of the National Iron Company’s establishment on September 3, 1964, which played a foundational role in developing Algeria’s steel industry. Mr. Khoman highlighted that this rebranding is part of a strategic overhaul aimed at reinvigorating the iron and steel sector in line with the government’s vision for industrial advancement.

Under the motto “Roots of Iron, Bright Future,” the National Iron Company aims to reposition itself as a key player in the steel market, leveraging Algeria’s industrial heritage and receiving substantial support from the nation’s leadership. This new strategy emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and the adoption of market-driven strategies to meet current demands.

The ceremony concluded with tributes to retired workers who contributed to the early success of the Sider El Hadjar steel complex, honoring their foundational role in Algeria’s iron and steel sector.
