Expanding Access to Affordable Housing Amid National Housing Program Progress
Algerian Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, announced that the process of summoning subscribers for the AADL 3 housing program will begin by the end of 2024. The announcement came during a working visit to Ain Defla, where Belaribi shared plans to launch the first phase of this new public housing program either before the end of this year or at the beginning of 2025.
Minister Belaribi noted that work on AADL 3 would proceed following the completion of the AADL 2 program, which is expected to wrap up around the year’s end. Approximately 3,000 units under AADL 2 are scheduled for delivery in early 2025, marking a significant milestone in the program’s progress.
Regarding the cost of AADL 3 housing, the minister assured that prices would align with the rates of subsidized rental housing, taking into account the purchasing power of subscribers to ensure affordability. In preparation for AADL 3’s implementation, Belaribi mentioned that land allocation across the country has been confirmed, and that official ministerial decrees related to the program will be released by the end of November.
During his visit to Ain Defla, the Minister inaugurated several educational and residential projects, including the opening of the Sarmoum Ben Amr High School in Haj Sadouq district and the foundation-laying for a school complex and high school in the Chellal neighborhood. Additionally, he inaugurated a 305-unit housing complex under the lease-to-own scheme and initiated construction of a school complex and middle school in the newly developed Fghaylia district.
Upon arrival in Ain Defla, Belaribi had also launched the distribution of over 100,000 housing units in various formats across the nation in a ceremony held at the Taieb Cherif Mohamed Regional Theater, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s historic independence revolution.
