Escalating Violence and Vandalism Spark Concern in the West Bank
In the early hours of Monday, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian properties in Al-Bireh and the town of Deir Dibwan, east of Ramallah, by setting fire to vehicles and spraying racist slogans, according to the Palestinian News Agency.
Local Palestinian sources reported that a group of settlers entered the industrial area of Al-Bireh, where they set fire to approximately 20 vehicles before withdrawing from the scene. Emergency fire services rushed to control the flames but faced obstacles as settlers fired into the air and in the direction of firefighters upon their arrival.
The aggression extended to Deir Dibwan, where settlers burned an additional vehicle and left racist slogans on a retaining wall, further fueling tensions in the region.
This incident adds to a troubling increase in settler violence. Recently, the Palestinian Authority’s Committee Against the Wall and Settlements reported 1,490 assaults by Israeli forces and settlers in October alone, underscoring the ongoing violence impacting Palestinian communities, land, and properties.
